Geospiza Announces Name Change for Genetic Analysis Products
Change Reflects Commitment to Integrated Data Analysis Offering

SEATTLE, WA – January 29th, 2009 – Geospiza, Inc., the market leading developer of genetic analysis software, today announced that the innovative FinchLab™ lab management product name has changed to GeneSifter® Lab Edition.

This change affirms the close connection between Geospiza’s lab management software and the recently acquired GeneSifter Analysis Edition software. Geospiza President, Rob Arnold said, “The significance of this acquisition is that Geospiza is now the only company with a complete software solution to support both the laboratory and scientific data analysis across an entire spectrum of sequencing and microarray technologies. Our roadmap will further enhance these capabilities and Geospiza is in the best position to lead the market with a true end-to-end offering.” He continued, “The GeneSifter name better articulates the product focus on analysis and the benefits of integrating lab workflows with the final analyzed information to reduce the time, cost and complexity to produce verifiable results.”

In recent months, Geospiza has accelerated its product development efforts and unveiled early details of its new data analysis capabilities and integration roadmap. The new offerings, which will provide researchers with the tools they need to understand the biological significance of their data and publish rapidly, have been validated by scientists and lab managers. Those products will be featured at ABRF (The Association of Biomolecular Research Facilities) in Memphis, Tennessee on February 8th, 2009.

The GeneSifter product family will not only provide an end-to-end solution from a product perspective, but also from a platform perspective. From a single web-based system, Geospiza’s GeneSifter helps customers manage their laboratories across multiple genetic analysis technologies, including Capillary Electrophoresis, Microarrays from Affymetrix and Illumina, as well as Next Generation Instruments from Applied Biosystems, Roche, Illumina and Helicos.
