Geospiza has worked with Bio-Rad Laboratories to adapt iFinch for use with the Bio-Rad Cloning and Sequencing Explorer Series.

With only a web browser, user name, and password; teachers and students have access to a state-of-the-art, commercial software system that supports genetic analysis and scientific discovery.

The bioinformatics module of the Bio-Rad Cloning and Sequencing Explorer Series, links biology with computer analysis. This portion of the series was developed by Geospiza, Inc. and Bio-Rad.

Students view traces from their chromatograms, edit read sequences, use the NIH NCBI databases to identify and find related sequences, assemble forward and reverse reads into contigs, identify potential introns and exons, and perform six-frame translations to identify the putative protein sequence. Web-based tutorials in iFinch demonstrate how to use these software tools and provide hands-on training.
